I still don't get it - Trump is POTUS?!

It has been a few days but I still do not understand. We decided to elect a marginally successful businessman with multiple failed companies and bankruptcies as our next President OVER an intelligent woman with lifetime public service who has made a couple (yes two only) bad judgement calls during the lifetime of service.

Help me understand how this happened and why it happened knowing everything we knew America?

Americans are kind and mostly intelligent people. So how did American media and Hilary campaign get it so wrong that they could not properly illustrate the stark choices between the two?

TV News can be interesting or even entertaining, their purpose is to inform and empower the uninformed. TV News channels miserably failed and acted as an extension of Trump Entertainment to boost their ratings. The American TV media turned out to be a useless.

The Clinton campaign did not articulate their vision and got trapped in Trumps campaign of insults and derogatory comments. Their entire campaign TV adds concentrated on repeating Trumps nauseating insults to women, handicapped, ethnic minorities and others to the extent that they lost the effect.

The Republican party totally abdicated their responsibility to the nation. Their only target became to make Hilary Lose. What happened to the Republican party that believed in morality over power – maybe that was a myth.

Where were the core Obama supporters starting with African Americans? Obama & Michelle went across the nation encouraging people to go out and vote. Detroit had a voter turnout of < 30% which is shameful.

Trump called all Mexicans rapist and other things. But Hilary still lost Florida. So, did the immigrant community come out and vote or did they decide to stay home and complain later!

Blue collar workers in states like Michigan, Pennsylvania and Ohio – are the core Democratic Party constituency. They decided to vote for a man with no plan over a candidate who at a minimum articulated a plan. They voted for a man who bankrupted companies and put people out of work to make himself rich.

What about people who believe in supporting our armed forces. They voted for a man who stated that he only (with zero experience) knows more than all the US Generals and intelligence. A person who has not paid any taxes over the last decade – taxes where after debt servicing most of the money goes to Defense. 

Of course, the best part was someone who openly denigrated our relationship with neighbors like Mexico and NATO Allies over his extreme empathy with a totalitarian bigot like Putin.

What happened to the millions who benefited from Affordable Health Care? Since Trump and the Republicans plan to repeal that at a minimum 10 million or more who did benefit will lose out. The Republican Senate has already stated that their first task is to repeal the Affordable Health Care Act – not improve just repeal.

Well do not worry Americans. Have faith in Trump and he alone will make everything perfect again. Is that not the perfect definition of democracy – one man controlling all and alone making things perfect.
