In a democracy people get the leaders "they deserve” but do we deserve Trump?!
So we the American people are down to this. There is a small possibility that we could have as our next President, the classic person who brings out the worst in us. A potential US President who constantly tells cheering republican crowds that America is terrible and all institutions developed in the last 250+ years are useless.
According to Mr. Donald Trump the immigration policies (that made America), armed forces (as he knows more than the generals), law establishment, social services, American economy (still the best in the world) and everything else are all useless. Of course only he and he alone can correct everything. These are classic comments of a potential ………………. (you decide). And people cheer!
Do we deserve this – YES we do. We had an honorable man as a President the last 8 years and the Republican Right heaped all types of repugnant insults on him. They disgraced the office of the President and we let that happen. I just wish that we Americans are not made to pay for our disgraceful apathy the last 8 years.
Barack Obama inherited an economy in free fall, stock market devastated with trillions lost, Bin Laden running free, America serviceman fighting multiple wars overseas, and unemployment at 7.8%. Today Bin Laden is dead, American serviceman are home, unemployment is < 5% and trillions dollars of wealth has been created through stock market. A start was made with Universal Health Care which no other President before Barack Obama was able to pass. Instead of improving on it, the Republican Right spent 7 unsuccessful years repealing. Was Obama Presidency perfect – of course not. There is no such thing. Did WE make mistakes under his Presidency – Yes. Past Presidents have made mistakes and so will the next one. No President works alone – we all together contribute to the American success story.
If we elect Donald Trump as President, then shame on Hilary & the Democratic Party and the Republican Establishment - and of course shame on us.
But I believe in America and the American people. I do not think Donald Trump will get more than 100 electoral vote +/- 10%. Please do not make me a liar.
